About Me
For the last 10 years I have become known for my TV programmes, show gardens and books but I will always consider myself a gardener first and foremost and my love of gardening began at a very early age.
It was the sheer ingenuity, versatility and characteristics of plants that fascinated me from the moment that I started watching them grow. The speed at which seedlings elongated their stem, the way they chased the light and the development of their leaves, creating canopies that relentlessly followed the sun and then the glory and complexity of the flowers dancing and nodding in the breeze, started a constant relationship with and curiosity about plants.
Plant and gardens have a unique ability to touch and influence everyone at some point in their lives, whether like me it happens at the age of four, or later in life as homes, families, retirements and even deaths come to play a part. It seems that no matter what emotional, physical or spiritual state, the garden, or parts of it, can offer some solace.
To me the very reason for the existence of the garden is as a worldly portrayal of paradise, a perfect space in which eternal provisions are present. And so as gardeners armed with whatever knowledge and skills we possess we embark on sculpting and molding our own snapshot of paradise, a collection of all that we hold most dear.
It is this emotional connection that I have with gardening that I bring not only to my own personal garden but to all the projects I am involved with be they private clients, show gardens or TV programmes.
And this is what the press have said......
