About Me

I currently live in West Oxfordshire but I was born & grew up in Wales. This is my first real garden - I inherited a real weed patch! I have recently bought a renovation project in France with 5 acres of land. The house, barn, cottage & outbuildings have been neglected for about 50 years so we have our work cut out for us! There is a veggie patch that is about 4 feet deep in brambles and I am planning on clearing this & the quarter acre garden & courtyard this summer. There is an acre of land across the road from the house which is on quite a steep slope with a stream running across the bottom, I would like to eventually make this into a wildlife garden with a pond. The other three and three quarter acres are just down the road and I am planning on keeping a couple of horses there. There is a substantial amount of woodland here so I need to learn my trees and how to care for them! The area is known as the Lake District of France & we have a large man-made lake quite close to us - Lac De St Pardoux a ten minute drive, with beaches and plenty of watersports. I am looking forward to the day that I can move there full-time & get on with the gardens, hoping to be self-sufficient in fruit & veg at least! I would also like to keep chickens & maybe ducks as we have plenty of outbuildings for these so would appreciate any advice!!
