if youcan get hold of some soot, as long as its not from a central heating fire I.E gas or oil , wood burning soot is good, or if you can get hold of some basic slag, this will deter the bugs and also sweeten the ground basic slag looks just like soot tigercub33

thanks everyone ,i'll wait a bit then
the woodlice is one of our frends,as you will have gatherd by now, and has it has been said if the woodlice are there then they have not yet finished making the compost for you,so put your gun down and make them welcom.
As mattie says ..they are still working on eating then turning your stuff into good compost ...as a rule ..woodlice wont damage your spuds ..unless .something like say a slug or wire worm makes a whole first ..for the woodlice to get in and seek moisture ..as they are thirsty little devils ...they do a lot of good in the garden they chew up waste the same & expel it the same as worm, they also eat there own doo doo's as they need the copper it contains. Aids composting ..!!
Higher temperatures and more moisture will help it break down quicker thus leaving the woodlice food less ..
This happens to me every year but they seem to disappear about mid April, just when I want to empty my bin. You might find there aren't as many in the lower level, if you have one of those bins with a trap door may be worth scooping some out of there.
I would geuess that your compost is not quite ready if woodlice are gourging on wood remnants. You could sift the smaller compost out if you have the time
