Watering Can

Watering Can

Why spend £2.00 - £3.00 pounds on a small watering can for your indoor plants ? (or even outdoors)

If you use a steam iron and purchase ironing water like the one shown in the photograph the bottle has a nice filling spout on it  when it's empty don't throw it away, wash it out and use it to water your indoor plants!

Yes Caroline (Flowerpot) I was thinking along the lines of a plant pot, I also saved a tin that contained pineapple chunks, and as this used a ring pull, the top of the tin doesn't have very sharp edges, I have a cunning plan for the edges of the baked beans tin anyway! Yes Caroline I wont forget  the drilling !

Jay, Your baked bean tin's would make good herb pots for the window sill, with their beveled side's they look quite effective.  Remember the drainage holes though.

Hi again Drew

Just noticed that if I try to create a group garden tip in the DIY group it then goes to my profileto create it in My garden Tips which isn't what I expected as it was meant to be a tip coming from the DIY group - I suppose I should be discussing this in the testing group?

time for my injection again no doubt - nurse nurse!

Hi Drew,

Yes it makes sense but  I think I saw a 0  (zero figure) in the Group Garden Tips http://www.gardenersclick.com/groups/diytoptips on The D.I.Y. Top Tips sectionbut I know I did see various tips listed at one point (I'll have to check that again.I don't want to steal GC's thunder by creating this group, but my group is more about money saving tips than just general gardening tips.I know if I post my tips in the journal I can't do the same things as in the tips section. i.e. photos and separate headings and teasers which is a bit of a pain so probably just a mention in the journal about new tips which will then be globally available in the Group Tips section?maybe it's the heading group tips that throws me?

Hi Jay,

I think this is actually a bit of confusion about how the system works.

The Group Tips pages are a collection of tips from everyone who is a member of that group.  So the tips aren't group specific which is why every tip you create appears in the Hot House.  They also appear in every group you're a member of.

I hope that makes sense?

Drew

I tried to post this here http://www.gardenersclick.com/groups/diytoptips    in the Group Garden Tipsas I thought The Group Garden Tips was part of The D.I.Y. Top Tips Group, but it ended up here so I have added it again in the Group Noticeboard!  Drew Help Please!

Excellent idea, Jay.  Not only useful for the purpose described, but saves the bottle going to landfill as well.
