The Chelsea Flower Show 2009
The Chelsea Flower Show 2009
Although gardenersclick weren’t at the Chelsea Flower Show with their road show, many members of the team were there under various different guises soaking up the atmosphere and of course the gardens and plants.
We know that many of you visited too (we tried to catch up with GC member Maggi but no luck, sorry Maggi) and we’d like to hear what you thought. Even if you didn’t manage to get to the show, no doubt you caught glimpses of the gardens on the television, what did you think?
Obviously you’ll have been following Chris and the Scholarship Mentoring Scheme winner Lindsay Anglin who created a beautiful garden that was always surrounded by crowds of appreciative visitors at the show and were awarded a Silver-Gilt medal in the Urban Gardens category. But what else caught your eye?

I was also lucky enough to visit Chelsea this year, it was the first time I have been and I really enjoyed it! Am now looking forward to seeing a few more shows.
If anybody is interested I have stumbled upon a site which is providing discounted tickets for the Hampton Court show. There is also some interesting insight into a show garden at the 2008 show...

I'm sorry too that we didn't manage to meet up, but never minf, there's always another show. I did manage to have a chat with Lindsay though which was good.
Yes, there were fewer Show Gardens this year, but in a way that was a good thing because you could focus the mind better on the ones that were there. My favourite was the Sheffield Uni one with the wildlife/living wall tower (can't remember the name of the garden but you know the one I mean). The gardens on Main Avenue give you ideas but are, in general, (at least the large ones) more geared to public space (I feel). The smaller ones had more relevance to the average back garden, eg the Childrens' Society Garden with it's washing line which is a feature we all need but is frequently ignored. All the courtyard gardens were gorgeous and I would have had a hard time choosing the 'best' from them.
All in all I had a great week at Chelsea. I'm sorry that I didn't meet more of you - but maybe I did and we just didn't know! It was great to meet Adrian and Debbie and I hope to see many members at the Garden Party on August 15th,
I attended Chelsea both Tuesday with my husband and onthe Wednesday as a helper. The Show was wonderful and Chris's garden was wonderful. The Great Pavillion was spectacular and all the floral displays were inspiring. I took loads of photos. I love Chelsea the atmosphere you can not discribe and the tv coverage doesnt give it justice you have to be there.
