As many of you will be aware we’ve been updating the My News and email alert system in order to make it easier for members to stay connected. Unfortunately, due to a bug, the system turned out rather too keen to send out alerts, with the result that many of you received a flurry of emails at the start of the weekend. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. We have now fine-tuned the system so that it is sending out email alerts at sensible intervals to keep you up-to-date with what's happening. The irony is that one of our main aims for this revised system was to reduce the number of emails being sent out!
The default setting for the new system is to send out one News Update email a day. However, if you prefer to be alerted more frequently or less frequently, then simply go to the My News page and choose the frequency that suits you by clicking on the appropriate button in the left-hand menu. The new system puts you in complete control - you can even switch off the alerts altogether. In addition to the News Update emails, you will also get an alert whenever someone sends you a personal message.
Again, we are very sorry for the increase in emails over Friday and Saturday. We hope you’ll forgive us!
