Gardenersclick wins prestigious award

From the moment you sight the results of your hard work in your garden, to someone complimenting you on your handiwork, everyone likes to have recognition of a job well done.

The success of gardenersclick is down to you, the members, who make the site what it is. All of that work has been acknowledged with added silverware, after gardenersclick was named the winner of a hugely prestigious award.

At a ceremony attended by the country's leading journalists, authors, designers, photographers and broadcasters within the gardening industry, gardenersclick was handed the Digital Media award at the Gardening Media Guild Awards 2008 - the Oscars for all things horticultural.

Beating the likes of the BBC's Gardeners' World site and The RHS Online to scoop the coveted prize for best website, the judges noted how gardenersclick “encourages a lively sense of community among gardeners.” It showed just how far the site has come this year, thanks to the efforts and keenness of all of you as the site's users, not to mention the fantastic conversations that have built up around it.

Well done everyone. A lot of hard work has gone into developing this site, the many tweaks here and there have been noted! But I would like to thank everyone for their friendship and generosity in sharing advice and ideas. I must say there are some very accomplished photographers in our number.

This accolade is truly wonderful news and just recognition for all the time and enthusiasm expended by both those involved in running the site and those contributing to it - G's Click has been a runaway success after less than a year from launch, ( I suppose you could liken it to the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, now we're in Panto season!), so here's to even greater things during 2009! Best wishes to all for the festive season!
